🎯 Goal: Practice adding money and understand change.
You can add item prices to know what to pay, and understand change is what the seller returns when you overpay. This is the math you use every time you shop.
Let’s explore
➕
When buying, add the prices to know how much to pay.
💰
If you hand over more than the price, the seller gives change. Example: item costs 8,000d, you give 10,000d, you get 2,000d back.
✅
Always check your change so you are not short!
🧮
Change formula: Change = Money you give − Item price. Example: price 8,000d, give 10,000d → 10,000 − 8,000 = 2,000d. Always subtract the price (smaller) from the money given (bigger).
Practice activity
🧮 Buy a 7,000d item with a 10,000d note — how much change?
Worked example: You buy a pen for 7,000d and give 10,000d. You work it out: 10,000 − 7,000 = 3,000d. When the seller hands money back, count it: exactly 3,000d? Only then say thanks and go.
