Needs and Wants

🎯 Goal: Tell apart things you NEED (essential) and things you WANT (nice but optional).
You can tell apart a NEED (hard without it: food, clothes, school) and a WANT (nice but okay to skip). Sorting them helps you cover needs first so money does not run out by surprise.

Let’s explore

🍚
A NEED is something you struggle without: food, water, clothes, school books.
🍭
A WANT is fun to have but okay to skip: candy, a new toy, stickers.
🧠
Good spenders take care of NEEDS first, then WANTS. That way money does not run out by surprise.

Practice activity

🎮 Play the “Needs or Wants?” game in the Game zone to practice sorting!
Worked example: Take 4 items from your bag, draw 2 boxes: NEED and WANT. Sort each one: pencil → NEED, cute eraser → WANT, notebook → NEED, sparkly hair tie → WANT. Then count each box.

Quick quiz

1. Which is a NEED?
→ A meal
2. Which is a WANT (optional)?
→ Stickers
3. When spending, what should come first?
→ NEEDS first
4. On a cold day, a warm coat is a?
→ Need
5. A set of sparkly stickers is a?
→ Want

🎯 Real-life mission

Look around your room and point to one thing you NEED and one you WANT.
